Atlas Salt Broadens Partnership with Sandvik for Great Atlantic Salt Project Expansion

Atlas Salt has announced an expanded collaboration with Sandvik Mining for the development of the Great Atlantic Salt Project near St. George’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The enhanced agreement, now valued at about $132 million, includes the supply of underground mobile mining equipment, advanced technology, and supporting services to meet the full construction and ramp-up needs as specified in the updated feasibility study.

As part of the agreement, Sandvik will provide vendor-backed financing for essential capital equipment, supporting the project's targeted production capacity of four million tonnes per year. The partnership covers additional fleet units, automation, digital systems, electrification, and other infrastructure necessary for the early phases of mine operation. This strategic collaboration aims to ensure operational readiness, execution certainty, and alignment with long-term project goals.
